J costa variator & sh300

I'm thinking of getting a j costa variator for my sh 300i,any feedback on how it will perform, how easy to fit,& where to get one from?

Not cheap mind! €150 on ebay.

As we discussed the other week, I'd try the Dr Pulley sliders first. Will cost you about €41.50/£35 plus about 30 mins labour.

I tried a JCosta on my Nexus... and its sitting in my Garage gathering dust, the only real outcome for me was using more fuel and the engine noise sounded like a 50cc ped... I tried slightly lighter Dr Pulleys and they are spot on

From what I read, J Costa variators are a bit extreme for most people. Maybe a Malossi one would be worth considering. On the Tmax at least, there are various setup options depending on how much of a boy racer you are.

I had a j costa on my sh 300, acceleration is improved, not vastly, it seems to rev higher, would I have another, eeer, no, the stock sh 300 is quick enough off the mark, I'd rather spend the £200 notes on something else.

Yes... I can imagine that there might not be too much advantage on an SH - whilst on the Tmax there is definitely a sluggish period around 30mph that a variator fixes. I have toyed with a malossi variator for the little Burger who's acceleration is steady rather than scintillating.

I got my JCosta second hand for around £50, would never had spent £200 for one, the rollers in it had no visible signs of wear and had only been used for 500 miles but after only an additional 800 miles most of the plastic coating had come off.

Sounds like the dr pulley weights is the option,I might give them a whirl for the summer,thanks for the replies.
