Help with topbox.... need a good deal!

Post by barryG »

When I bought my Burgman, the dealer said when I wanted a topbox they would do a good deal. Well, Ive asked and theyve gone quiet re that :(

So, does anyone know where I can get a really good deal on genuine Suzuki topbox, backrest pad, colour coded lid and the fitting rack for a 2011 Burger 400 please?

Retail is £328 :o hence why I need a deal!

Barry,
For genuine Suzuki parts with colour coded top box inlay that price isn't bad!
As an alternative, you could look at picking the individual parts from Givi (look at http://www.motorcycleplanet.co.uk) say a 46 litre monokey box + rack + backrest but you would still be looking at £275 ish. With regard to the colour coded inlays, I have always avoided these as when scratched they show up more that the matt textured plain black ones, not to mention the latter are cheaper but it is down to personal choice.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery but today is a gift!

I've just bought a Givi V46' top box, a brake light kit, backrest, spare paintable inlay (paint cost an extra £35) and a Givi bag and I paid £285 online. I paid another £55 for the Givi rack. They're not cheap!

I looked at the Givis, but the rack pushes them so far out the back its ridiculous. The Suzuki rack keeps the box tighter to the seat, which is what I want.

I think the rack for the Xevo was over £300, bloomin expensive. Do you know the make of the OEM one (the Xevo's is a SHAD)?

I bought the rack, topbox, pad and coloured top for well under £300 for the Xevo. I think it was nearer £250 so the Suzuki ones pretty steep. Im sure the box is a Givi on the Suzuki too.

Blimey, I got done then

If the box is a Givi, you could buy just the rack (maybe from a different dealer if they're going back on what they said) and find the box somewhere else? At least if it is a GIVI you could take it with you when you change bike if you wanted.

Looking at the prices of the GIVI monokey boxes and they are pretty expensive. The monolock boxes are cheaper but then not as sturdy.

I don't see how you would get it much tighter - I have about half an inch clearance between the rear of the seat and the front of the box when I lift the seat. Any tighter and you just wouldn't be able to lift the seat with the box on.

LOL, I contacted another dealer who said if I got them to fit it, they would offer a 5% discount. However, to fit the box they would charge £66 :o

Ive declined the "offer"!
