Hints & Tips for the New Burgman Owner

As a new Burgman 650 Exec owner I have got a thirst for any information regarding my new scoot that makes life easier and ownership and more rewarding.
I'd like to hear about anything to watch out for, hints and tips regarding maintenance and cleaning and time saving etc.
But I wont believe you if you recommend scouring powder as a good screen cleaner and just a little note to the jokers please keep in mind there are some gullible people out there that just might take what you say in jest as fact

This needn't be model specific, as I'm sure that all new owners would appreciate and benefit from your knowledge and experience. Just put the model and hint/ tip in the title of your post to make it easier for anyone to follow this thread or if it applies to any scoot just the category of the tip

Burgman 650. When cleaning the rear wheel watch your hand against the ABS ring, mine is very sharp and have cut my hand on two occasions! I now use a pan cleaning utility brush.

Mucoff for cleaning, especially wheels, in the awkward corners where spokes meet hub and rim.

Keep an eye on the brakes, they need constant cleaning, and the seals checking.

I found my 650 Burgman an absolute pig to clean in comparison to the Silver Wing I have now, the rough cast wheels especially the rear collecting brake dust. The rear wheel is hard to turn by hand especially when the engine is cold and it's difficult to get into the nooks and crannies at the back. It's already been mentioned about cutting yourself on the ABS ring, I got into the habit of wearing cut-proof work gloves when cleaning the Burgman.

After condensation problems in one headlight after a very wet few days riding in Northern Ireland, I'd be wary of pointing a hose or pressure washer around the headlights for too long.

I took the rings off mine and put them on the lathe to nip off the edges i got so pi55ed off with getting cut hands all the time
