Yes, France is nice. The French? Not so much. I guess if you speak French you have a better chance as a tourist. But as an English speaking tourist, it feels a bit awkward.
I only ever had one holiday there.
2 weeks in Perpignan in the mid nineties.
I found the locals to be rude, arrogant and untrustworthy.
The restaurants were poor and expensive, and the shop keepers incredibly unhelpful.
No thank you - never again. I'd rather go somewhere that feels like they want my company, rather than just my money.
I'm sure that there are some very nice French people, but I've never met 'em, (apart from Fred, my next door neighbour, but as he has the good sense to live in England, and has a name like Fred, so that's OK.)
