I didn't copy the link and can't find it now. If that's the case, and the article wasn't a very good article from what I saw, then especially for the 650's transmission, that's a shame. The clutch on the 400 could probably do with a redesign but at least any issues that someone might get with that are easily fixed, and manageable and kept at bay with proper servicing, which most suzi dealers seem to do correctly now. It's cheap too. I've done just 3000 miles of stop and go and cruising but mine is fine at the mo. Sudden loss of drive on the 650 is something else though. It's mega failure and costly. From an engineering point of view it is a case of 'when' not 'if' the drive belt goes on the 650. This is the case for all non replaceable drive belts. I guess we will have to wait and see though!
Although there have been some belt failures on the B650, normally 50K+ miles, the majority of transmission failures aren't belt-related but primary spline (which has already been redesigned) and stopper belt related (even fewer), which has been redesigned from 2012 from what I can see trawling BUSA.

Hi guys, I know about the spline thingy and that's fixed of course. But it is the belt failure rate that is still happening and that will continue to happen that is a worry. My dealer had one in, an 09 with a very low mileage on it. And that is the second he has had with belt failure at quite low mileage. I think those are less common though. I only know of one other myself that failed at around 45k and that was an 08. The main problem is that the belt just wears out at a certain mileage. That mileage is dependant on how the bike has been run in and how it's been treated during it's life. The belts don't like being run in fast as that seems to damage them and shorten their life span. At least that's what many experienced suzi techs have told me. It's inevitable that more and more will fail unless owners are prepared to shell out the money to replace them. They won't last the life of the bike. But otherwise the Burger is the best there is. Not slagging off the 650 but just stating the obvious.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Yes, Burgman USA is the epicenter of knowledge of Suzuki, and scooters...

I share some of your sentiment irev. But it was just a link to an external site telling us all about the new Burgmans and the fact they are to be on show at some bike show, somewhere in 'urop'. I didn't actually get to the bottom of it as the external site was not playing ball and offering up all the info. Can't bloody find it again now.

There have been odd mentions in various places that a new Burger is expected for 2013.....though of course, they may be the same rumour endlessly recycled!
In any event, Suzuki do need something ASAP as the BMW C650GT walks all over it in comparative tests, and they didn't sell many anyway.

They need a new 400 too, the Maxsym and X10 trounce them for value. I suspect the X10 will rise in price next year as its proving a hit sales wise.

I will be interested if they upgrade the 650, it is long overdue.
9 years and it has hardly changed :(

Intermot (in Germany from 2nd Oct)

Suzuki
We don't expect too much from Suzuki, more updated model lines, like the famous and popular Burgman scooter. The DL-1000 V-Strom dual-purpose motorcycle has gone without an updated too long, so expect something there.
Suzuki's press conference is on October 2nd, at 17:00 - 18:00

Personally I can't see any new model B650 but will be happy to be proved wrong, they did a "major" revision for 2012 with new dash and further hush hush transmission changes including stopper bolt and internals, evidenced by Le Dude's repairs and updated parts.

Suzuki France have announced the 'new' 650 Burgman will be coming next year and that was an 'official' announcement. I and many others have seen the link to the site a few weeks ago. It also mentioned the new 400 for 2013 (showing that model only) but won't be released for sale until 2014. I believe the same announcement was made by Suzuki Germany. Suzuki GB have acknowledged a new 650 for next year but have not said anything about a new 400 for next year. and as far as I know Suzi GB have not made anything official yet like the French and Germans. That may be down to the fact the Uk is used as a dumping ground, sort of, for the older models as they make more profit from selling off these bikes even at cheaper bargain prices over here. Might be some bargain 650's to pick up new!
