Lightbulb help?

Post by Zed »

First sorry for posting here, tapatalk doesn't see the technical sub-forum?

So help please? My main bulb has blown, and instead of getting the shop to replace it with whatever cheap shit they use, I thought I'd have a go myself... :?

Any recommended bulbs which last a bit longer than incandescents?
I don't need super high power, as London is always well lit. And i don't know if anything would melt if i used a Halogen/hi-intensity blah.

And presumably I take off the mirrors then the dash and then put bulb in? Anyone done a liberty or similar?

How about these (I don't know if the liberty is H1/H7 bulb), they have a three year warrenty? I haven't used them as when my dipped beam went I wanted a better light, not longer bulb life.

I did this on the ludix and upgraded from a tungsten to a halogen.

These bloody tungsten bulbs are dangerous. In the traffic your light will be lost within all the other brighter lights in the traffic.

The X9 on the other hand has some great lights.

Osram Nightbreakers or the other Philips Extreme ones i can't quite remember, or the Halfords +50% brilliance ones, given you probably can't wait for an EBay delivery

That's a Bosch BA20d bulb. There is only one halogen replacement available in the Halfords m/c section. Look for a 35W/35W halogen bulb...

The link on the Piaggio spares page says "BULB 12V 55/60W HALOGEN H4 - NB"? :?: and Halfords have two of which only one states specifically is "safe for plastic headlights"?

Piaggio spares is wrong I'm afraid. I can tell from looking at the picture of your scooter what type of bulb it is. This is a globe fitting Bosch ba20d bulb which Piaggio use on the LXV and GTV also. You take the mirrors off and the front part of the headset and the reflector will come away once you remove the screws. The instructions to do this should be in your handbook. The correct bulb from Halfords is this one if you want brighter

Bulb fitting looks like this

Your old bulb will look like this

and the halogen version like this
