Nice one halfabusa, id buy another new plug as a back up until you are convinced the origional was faulty, and when you have time check the plug cap/H T lead.
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

I will buy a spare as soon as i can. It doesn't take up much space and can be easily changed at the side of the road, so better safe then sorry. I'll also be more cautious when starting up the engine and wait till the initial boot up is finished.

Halfa, glad you are up and running ok. The plug is always a suspect in these cases as the guys are saying. A plug can go faulty anytime. But reasons (apart from physical damage) a plug can go faulty can also be connected to starting the engine too soon before the electronics/ecu have booted up causing the engine to run inefficiently on default algorythms for ignition and fuel mapping. In such cases there is always a mismatch usually causing rich mixture at various points in the rev range and may cause stalling early on in the ride. This can cause partial petrol and lead fouling of the spark plug over time causing it to misfire under load (ie: ie when starting and a rich mixture is being injected) earthing out it's electrod at it's core. It's the lead in the petrol that does it. Remember, unleaded petrol still has lead in it as a natural product, but none is added by the manufacturers. Less likely is an ignition coil beginning to go faulty. That too will knock out plugs if it fails in a certain way. On cars...my domain, starting the engine too early, not allowing the electronics to boot up is prevented on most new models now as it was discovered plugs were affected. Bike world is lagging behind somewhat. See you soon.

Re: Burgman 400 L0 Not starting up, trains for me today
It was too soon to celebrate it seems... Bike broke down on the way to the office again, this time in the middle of rain just after ascending from the shooters hill... Tried in vain a few times but didnt work. Eventually got it working but i had to keep revving it as it was not holding on the revs, pretty hard when you are at red lights... Managed to get back up on shooters hill about 3/4th of the way when i hit another set of fucking traffic lights and it died. I had to push it all the way up the hill whilst suffering multiple heart attacks and once over the hill, i just rolled down and parked it at the first pub car park i could find.
I dont care if its stolen, vandalized or set fire to. I hate the fucking thing for leaving me stranded on such a day. I have a very important deadline to be done before monday and plus i was planning to leave early today to get to my son's nursery to celebrate his 4th birthday, which is not going to happen now because i will be late.
I'm so close to getting rid of the fucking thing. I'm sorry but i cant be rational at this moment when i'm stuck in a train with my bike gear, standing up like in a sardine can and paying £11 for the privilege...

Whoa....!! So sorry to hear that. Sounds more and more like contaminated fuel ie: water in it or a loose wire on the ignition side. Tilt switch maybe, but not the first thing I'd go with. Halfa, I can't get down to you this weekend, I'm away getting a new car with auto tranny to enable me to drive without being in a world of pain. So simply can't get to you to have a look but I'd guess you ought to take her in to the bike shop. Don't worry, it'll be ok. It will be something really easy to sort I'm guessing. Doesn't help you now though. Good luck buddy.
