you need to phone the dealer that did the repair first thing in the morning, this is a strange fault, but Im sure they can fix it. Im sure your pissed off halfa, you have had some bad luck with it ,but Im sure it will get sorted,
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

Thanks for the support horobags, the dealer doesnt open on mondays :) but i fixed it now luckily... As i was trying to start it i noticed the brake handles weren't making a click sound, so i washed the handles down with a lukewarm bucket of water first, then hot water and tried again. It started up on first try...

Looks like the switches were frozen :x

Thing is though, i lost all my trust in this bike with after all that happened and although i know its irrational to think that these problems only can happen on this bike and no other, it still doesn't convince me otherwise.

As soon as the weather improves and bike market picks up a bit (if this stupid winter ever ends) it will be on the market.

Then it will be time for a deauville... I was so close to buying a deauville before this when i shied away from having to use the clutch during winter months.

My bike is not only my work tool but also i need to trust it as i go on a ride out as well. Thinking back the roads i've been on with it in the wales trip not so long ago, it sends shivers down my spine to imagine what would have happened if the spark plug cable gave up the ghost in the middle of nowhere...

In a sense i was lucky to have hit with the problems close to home.

Deauville 700, a lovely bike, ive had one. £8k new now as they are being discontinued, mint low milers are good buys.
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

shame they discontinued it. It's a hard to replace bike and very very underrated. Decent examples around for around £4200ish. Not far off from what i can sell this one at. Roll on spring...

that could happen on any scooter or motorbike ,anywhere and on any road ,
would be very naive ,to think it couldnt happen, good basic maintenance should help to stop it from happening,such as checking HT leads plug caps and spark plugs,

it's only done 5000 miles and had a service done when i bought it at 2750 miles. the last thing i had in mind was checking electrics on such a new bike. Sure, breakdown is a possibility with every bike, but once i lose my trust, i'll always have it in the back of my mind...

sparkplug leads are not complicated electrics they really are one of the first things to check after spark plug if engine is not firing

up ,its just the same with a car,, i would have thought any one who rides a a big scooter or motorcycle would know this
or did my father teach me things that younger men dont know,
my first bike in bits was a 1933 calthorpe as and we got it it to run

i did suspect it was something else than just a spark plug going off when i first changed it and it started working, so when it failed again, i wasn't too surprised or heartbroken. However, after the dealer fixed the offending cable, i was not expecting another failure that soon after only 4 days of riding. I was going to give it a wash today and that's the only reason why i tried starting it up to so that i could move it back to the garden, and that's when i found out it wasn't starting up. Had i not tried it today, i'd have woken up tomorrow morning to go to work and faced that situation. At that time of the morning when the time is of essence during rush hour, i wouldn't have that much patience or thinking time to try out warm water through handlebars, and i would have taken the trains again, possibly being late to work once more.

Oh well, i now wrapped a pair of towels around the brake levers and wrapped a couple of shopping bags over those as well to insulate from cold the best i could. If it's not enough by the morning, i'll just attack it with a kettle of warm water...
