went to go home last night from work, touched the starter, it made a loud pop and then wouldn't start. left it a few minutes.. still no go. called the AA, a biker on a ST1300 came. we managed to get to the fuel pump.. that was working fine. pulled off a few panels. got to the plug, that was fine too. took cover off that goes over the air box, gave it a dose of easystart. nothing. we were both sat there scratching our heads when i noticed a clean bit of ali on the carb.. turned out it had backfired through the carb and blew it off its manifold!
It was a tight fit to try and get it back on.. the clip was knackered around the manifold.. he'd almost given up when i remembered a trick.. told him to hold it on square, as i touched the starter button.. it sucked it back into place straight away!
these things are sent to test us!

mmmh if you still got that other exhaust on, it needs changing as soon as possPD110961 wrote:went to go home last night from work, touched the starter, it made a loud pop and then wouldn't start. left it a few minutes.. still no go. called the AA, a biker on a ST1300 came. we managed to get to the fuel pump.. that was working fine. pulled off a few panels. got to the plug, that was fine too. took cover off that goes over the air box, gave it a dose of easystart. nothing. we were both sat there scratching our heads when i noticed a clean bit of ali on the carb.. turned out it had backfired through the carb and blew it off its manifold!

Or get her on an inertia dyno for remapping as it is almost certainly running too weak due to lack of back pressure in the exhaust. It can be remapped without the need for any fancy add on's but you may have to dig around abit to find someone who can do it. A tweak here and a tweak there is all that will be needed.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: wierd fault on Burgman 400
Is the breakdown caused by fitting a non standard exhaust, which made the mixture run lean?

i'm waiting for a bit to make my exhaust work as it should, so that should sort out my problem hopefully.
it cant be remapped as its a carb version, but yes, lack of back pressure can cause a spit back.
