Don't worry I and a few others will wear you down next summer :-). I hate top boxes by the way. Service intervals are looking good.

IMO the 3000km checks are things which the user should be doing and not having to pay a service fee for.

When are they due to land Steve? Is there going to be one available as a demonstrator? Maybe we could arrange a Maxi-Muppet-Members 'landing' party for those interested? :D
I 'reckon' there'll be at least three turn up - Spaceprobe, Data and myself - if it's not snowing! ;)

Whadya think Gents?

I read that as 15 service intervals to 42,000km, or in the south about £150 x 15 = £2250, comparing to a Piaggio X10 with an estimated 5 services at £150 x 5 = £750.
I.e. buying a SYM is a false economy. I used to think it was a device to keep the dealership happy until I spoke to them about getting hold of parts etc which turned out to be a major irritant.

BTW I went on Suzukis website the other day and noted that you can buy loads of accessories for their bikes from the one site. I guess they make money doing that to. The last thing I bought for my SYMs was a Givi rack, previously some decent mirrors for the GTS and Isotta windscreens.

Why can't I buy these items from your website?
Why can't I even buy an air filter from your website?

And then there is Motorcycle Live, without even a small stand. If you are not enthusiastic about the brand how can you expect your customers to be?

Why on earth is Brake Fluid & Coolant listed as Yearly replacement, the norm is 2 yearly and some manufacturers are using "long-life" 3 year coolant.

Also why would a modern spark plug need changing at 6k klms, surely 12k klms is normal, with Iridium being twice this (or more).

Servicing looks quite a bit better but still looks way over the top from an engineering point of view. As poldark says, why is a coolant change needed every year? Spark plug doesn't actually need changing every 6,000 kilometers, or the brake fluid every year. Frankly, even the oil and filter change are a bit much at 6 monthly 6,000km intervals (every 12 months would be fine or at 6,000km which ever is first) and really not needed on a 600 size bike with modern design and modern oil being used. My Burgman 400 has the need for 1.3 litres of new oil every 6,000km or every 12 months, or which ever is first. I'm an engine design engineer and ex-motor technician and there is no engineering/technical reason for those items being specified for change at those intervals that I can think of, severe operating conditions accepted! Changing those items at those intervals won't make the bike any more reliable at those mileages. My Burgman uses 4yr long life coolant, the spark plug is changed every 7500 MILES (same plug as the Sym 600i). Brake fluid every 2 years. Fuel line every 4 years. Components seem to require changing much too often on this Sym. I'm loving the bike but not the servicing regime! It looks as if parts are being changed for no reason at all, and nothing to do with safety or reliability. I'd want more details on costs the dealers actually charge before even taking a test ride as it looks to me as if it will be expensive to run compared to most other bikes, including my Burgman. Feeling disappointed! Six monthly service intervals on bigger bikes went out years ago unless high or very low short journey mileages were being covered.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Been riding for 55 years & owned too many bikes to list here...

Maybe in three years time Sym will have 8,000 mile service intervals like Honda.
