nasty nasty road peeps local have tried to have it made wider for years. it has a crash a week on it but not a normal
biker road. very narrow with sharp bends.

2) I diagree with, although i have ridden for 50 yrs my experiance keeps me out of trouble, i can see a situation developing long before most people start apply brakes. As people who ride daily( most retired riders) have nothing to prove and enjoy riding and usually the bikes they choose to ride reflect thisDave Weller wrote:I'm starting to think that 1) The sports bikes are too light and fast for the average rider.
2) The average age of bikers is increasing, and concentration levels reduce with age.
3) We have people living here, that now enjoy faster cars and bikes for the first time.
4) Road surfaces are still bad
5) They are headcases and nothing will stop the speed freaks.
What ever it is, please ride safe and think of others, you have no right to break any of the rules in the highway code.

Yes, but you're in a minority Sylar. There aren't that many riders, retired or not, who ride daily.Sylar wrote:2) I diagree with, although i have ridden for 50 yrs my experiance keeps me out of trouble, i can see a situation developing long before most people start apply brakes. Sat outside cmc the other day, there must have been 40 to 50 bikes outside in the sunshine. Back in February, there was more staff than customers.
Last Sunday, I'd say the average age of bikers that were there seemed to be 50. Most were 40 to 60 with the odd younger person. But age doesn't necessarily = experience.
Reactions do slow as you get older. Eyesight gets worse. I wouldn't like to ride a sports bike, trying to keep my head up, looking through the rim of my glasses, the top edge of the pinlock visor and a sports screen!
For many riders, whatever age, jumping on a bike in April after a 6 month layoff and having a blast round country lanes can often end badly!
It's older people that seem to have the money and be daft enough to do it!

Even if you are a super duper rider with heaps of experience, have read all the books on roadcraft, done a shitload of courses and got a whole pile of I AM chufty badges you can still be wiped out in an instant.
Bikes are dangerous.
Which is a big part of why people of all ages and abilities enjoy riding them.

Have to agree with you Liam, I rode every day to work and back, with a pillion rider for 20yrs, luckily or otherwise i was never in any kind of accident. Now i ride all the time, and most days just for pleasure, averaging 10,000mls per year.In winter no-one at the usual haunts only me . Now, hardly any room to park especially at weekends. Good job i'm not very social anyway.
