Haaaaahhh Ha

There is no pleasing some people!

Please do not waste your time visiting Dave Wood, I don't think he would warm to the experience....

I am sure he would inform you of the nearest car dealership and keep his 'Hob Nobs' to himself!

I merely tried to keep you informed, clearly I was not clear enough, if you wish to view the machines PRIOR to the roadshow - I was letting you know the location of the nearest machine so you would not waste your valuable Kia and Fiat 'pig out' time.

You CLEARLY misinterpreted the 'donation' which is NOT mandatory.... But would be appreciated..... And for a very good cause because IN ACTUAL FACT IT IS BECAUSE A CLOSE FRIEND OF MINE IN YORK OF ALL PLACES, AT THE AGE OF 19 HAS A 30% CHANCE OF SURVIVAL FROM TESTICULAR CANCER, and I for one wish to do ALL THAT I CAN to raise money for the charity....

Your apparent rather selfish and glib comment 'grates' somewhat to the point that I suggest that you do actually visit 'most' (and I know them all!) and I doubt that you would get a test ride out of more than 10% of them..... for a 300-600cc Scooter of any brand you will struggle.

If you have time, BMW dealerships offer fresh 'real coffee', free wifi, daily copy of the Times (and regional newspapers) AND WASH YOUR CAR all for free! (if it is a BMW of course!), I don't have a BMW so I miss out on the last treat! I doubt that you too could not afford this level of pampering.

And finally...... a close friend of mine was once buying a house and was in a bidding battle with the REAL Victor Mildrew...... My pal won.... and met the REAL Mildrew ...... His opinion of Mildrew was unprintable.... Maybe I have tarred you with a broad brush!

Enjoy your weekend, I will

It no doubt is my problem of interpretation and Meldrew is more than capable of answering for himself but am I alone in finding that the last post from SYMUK veered from patronising to insulting?

Also if it is reported that emails to MotoGB are not answered and SYMUK says to pm him, why not solve the problem at source and ensure that emails sent to to the address given on the website are answered or delete the facility.

I don't get the constant need to have digs at Steve about the lack of demos. I don't know what it's like in North but it's a nightmare down here in the South. When I decided to switch from a bike to a maxi I checked out my local deales. 1 x Honda, 1 x Piaggio , 2 x Yamaha, 2 x SYM, 1 x Suzuki, 1 x BMW. Honda, no big scoots in stock, no demos, getting a used SH300 in the following week I could try. Piaggio, did have a X10 under wraps in the corner with other bikes in front of it. Just about managed to sit on it (through the plastic). Only demo was a Beverly, was told no dealer was going to waste money having X10 demos in stock. E mailed Piaggio, they told me a dealer at Heathrow had a demo, contacted them but never heard back. Yamaha (1), a couple of small scoots and a XMax 250, no demos. Yamaha (2), no scoots, no demos. Sym (1) no scoots at all in stock and no demos, Sym (2) a few small machines no demos. Suzuki, a 400 and 650 in stock and a couple of used machines so there would have been stuff to try. BMW, no demo currently available. So tell me why SYM is always considered the big baddie in all this, I just dont get it.

+1. I don't think comparing a major car importer such as Kia, and getting free tea and biscuits to a bike dealer who happens to sell a few SYMs each year, isn't really comparing like with like.

Meldrew is correct imho.
There is no way I would buy a scooter without, at the very least, looking at it, sitting on it and generally giving it the once over. He is also correct about Moto Guzzi, I've owned a couple and my son in law has one now. Yes, compared to the big boys they are 'small beer' but you can still physically see them in dealers.
Lets be honest hear £6000 for a Maxsym 600i is a lot less than Yamaha want for a new Tmax but it's still £6000 which is a big wedge. It is very possible to buy a brand new car for £6000 but I bet on one does without sitting in it first!
Some of the comments are staring to get personal, which is sad as I believe this is easily the best forum I've ever joined, however I emailed Steve at Sym some weeks ago regarding where I could just see a Maxsym and I am yet to get a reply.

Ive been interested in the SYM range for some time, there is a good usa based owners website. My interest stopped in march when I pulled up outside KJM in wigan to see three small cc SYM scooters, brand new with rusty exhausts!! Now I realise these machines must have been sat out in all weathers for some time, but on the dealers side how the hell does he expect to sell them, and its hardly a good advert for SYM scooters.
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

To SYM uk , we are very sorry your young friend has the big c and appreciate that you are trying your best to help him out and wish him well . On this forum since i have been here we are all aloud to express opinions etc and a lot of the time we will all disagree and we move on . Please do yourself a favour and when asking for donations for charity be a bit more informative at the off as i feel it would have made a big difference to the post and its interpretations . We also appreciate the efforts made to set up a road show for the sym brand ,this will help your sales and syms presence .With regards to your post answering Meldrew from the way it is typed i would take it as being very rude and if it was converted to an actual face to face conversation you would come across as "SHOUTING" and being pedantic and sarcastic towards the potential customer ,this is not really acceptable and i am sure your bosses would agree .I hope you address this in a professional way as you will only further damage the reputation that moto gb already has .Chilax

Well it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't bother coming back on here again - and quite frankly I wouldn't blame him.
Go on then chaps try getting another representative from another manufacturer on here. I await the flood of all these new reps joining the forum with interest

And Meldrew - it's no good comparing even Guzzi with SYM, let alone KIA. The only fair comparison is how many manufacturers provide a maxi to test ride. We've heard that the odd Kawasaki dealer has with the new J300 and obviously BM will, but who are the others who provide test vehicles on a regular basis?
