I really must open my eyes a bit more, been visiting Glasson Dock for years, but, must admit, don't really take much notice of shops. i usually turn up for a break and a cuppa(and a cigar) and watch any boats passing through the dock. I will investigate next time I visit.

Re: Sat 16th August 14 anything happening?
My big day out got smaller! I was forbidden to visit Conway Castle without the Mrs, who apparently has always wanted to visit as a couple ie us!
Got up and walked dog. Discovered I'd lost car keys. Bad news at any time but as I had to somehow get to Hull in the morning to pick up the Ladies in my life off the Ferry it was a bit worrying. After a stupid amount of time looking everywhere including the Fridge I eventually found them down the side of the Sofa. Much relief but it did make my departure somewhat later than planned.
I decided to visit the legendary Glasson Docks. Setting the Post Code on the Sat Nav and the settings to avoid Motorways off I went. About an hour and a quarter later I emerged off a side road onto the main Bradford / Skipton road. SOemwhere that I cold have been to within about 45minutes if I had followed my own instincts.
The weather was very blustery and could not be described as warm so what the f**k were all these cars doing crawling along in my way. Obviously the route to the Lakes was proving very popular. Using the mighty power of the Burgman 650 I made pretty good progress. at some point the Sat Nav took me off the main road onto a side road which, to be honest, was great. No Cars to speak of and very twisty and fun through some small villages. I would bet Sylar knows this road - if he does then what is it let me know because its worth noting the route for others.
Arriving at Glasson Docks I had no idea which way to go so obviously got it wrong. By complete accident I ended up outside the Smoke House shop. In I went and bought a beginners pack of Kippers. The very nice lady who has worked in the shop for years said - and I believe her - that she had sold millions of Kippers but couldn't offer me any advice as she had never had a Kipper, not even a taste, in her life! I also bought some smoked Bacon which was ace. Kippers are in freezer waiting for someone who can cook.
After that I found the Tea Bar on the other side of the harbour. Very nice and a great place to visit. Except for actually getting up above Bradford a really good ride out there and back so - thanks to Sylar for putting me onto the place. It wont be the last time I go.

I have said before Gerard if you wanted to visit Glasson dock, i would have met you at Settle and shown you some fantastic country lanes before you go through Lancaster, not a route i think you took. however you did find the Kipper place (not that I have ever looked for it). I think it must be on the left turn at the mini roundabout, instead of straight on ,the way I always go. You know my problem, I don't like to ride with more than one or two people and it looked like you intended to go to Wales in any event. Maybe another time. Glad you found it and enjoyed it.
