Frank and Gerard Trip to Italy

Post by frankiej1949 »

Just got back from our 7 day trip to Italy. I have covered 1950 miles and Gerard 1830 miles as I had to ride to Wakefield to meet him on the way to the Hull/Zeebrugge ferry. We visited six countries Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. We initially wanted to have Venice as our destination however when we got to Lake Garda we felt we had done enough and had a late lunch by the side of the lake then decided to stay the night and head back on the sunday morning. We will do a full report later with pics later but just like to say the Burgmans performed way beyond my expectations :D

Looking forward to reading the trip report on this

went on my V-max in 2005 via the (in)famous Stelvio pass ... I usually stay in lovely appartments between Sirmione and Peschiera del Garda ... both towns are very handy for boat trips and Verona is close and very nice

The Stelvio pass http://www.podiumcafe.com/2012/5/21/303 ... ef-history" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... a cycle blog but it gives an idea ;)

Great trip. I went there this year on my FJR and last year on my Burgman. To soften the blow and head of any naggin', we (me and 3 friends) take a few days getting there, the wives fly out to Lake Garda (we always stay in the hotel Eden in Sirmione), we meet them and stay 3 days, then they fly home and we ride home. Sounds like we did almost the same countries this year but we also went through Germany. Look forward to the pictures. We went up the Stelvio on the side with all those corners and down into Bormio. I was worn out going up that side on a scooter but there were old geezers going up it on pushbikes!
Heres me on my Burg racing an R1 down the other side (not really, the bloke on the R1 and the other Burg were my mates).

Paddle harder. I can hear banjo music!
