The old "desperate for accommodation so we ended up in the red light district" chestnut ;)

Looks like fun and I'm a bit jealous! Those burgmans must have looked like a Police convoy in a rear view mirror!

Yes cars tended to slow down as we came up behind them. Also slowed down as they passed but G said it was because they were admiring the BURGS

Excellent pictures. I'm currently planning a trip to Italy for next year. I intend to ride through France and Switzerland and into Italy via the Simplon Pass.
I rather be out riding.

 On one of our trips we stopped at a remote hotel in Switzerland - we were sent there by my TomTom when I chose 'find local hotels' - honestly! My mate went in to ask for rooms and came out laughing his head off. Yep, it was a licensed brothel and when he asked the man behind the desk if they had any rooms for the night he was told "Yes, we have rooms and each room has a girl in it". We should have realised when we pulled up and the car park was absolutely full of crates with dirty bedsheets in them!
Paddle harder. I can hear banjo music!

I plan to go from Calais, overnight in Dijon. Then onto Brig which is a the base of the Simplon Pass. I will spend a few days there before heading into Italy. :D
