Pre-Order Questions.

Post by macamxthe1st »

Following much dithering I am going to order a new 400 when my dealer reopens after the holidays. The required spec would be with heated grips, back rest (pillion), hand guards and Vario screen. This raises the first question. Is anyone currently using the Vario screen and if so what are thier views ? Does the screen negate the need for hand guards ? and finally on the previous ZA model I owned the Suzuki heated grips were pretty poor and no match for "Oxford" units, is that still the case ? My view is the best bet is to buy the base model and spec up especially if the screen does away with the need for hand guards and the "Oxford" grips are better. Any thoughts please.

Exciting stuff, love it when Santa arrives late.

As your ordering in January (poor sales time)I would shop around and either get a massive discount or all your extras thrown in for gratis (even if bike on finance, dealer gets s bonus for signing you up)

Can't help with the screen I kept it standard but Oxford heated grips where good on my 2011 butvthet where the newer type as previous Oxford grips had about 18 month life span

Mac, my 400za abs heated grips are average for performance. But ok for me. They get quite hot but only after 6-8 miles on a freezing day. Oxfords heat up better in my opinion but don't last as long. This is usually because when folks fit them they overstress them. If you fit them right, they should last. The screen I can't comment on as I find the standard screen perfect for me.

Just a little more info about the NEW Burgman 400 that is expected soon. Most of us know that Euro 4 comes into play on January the 1st 2016. This is mostly why there has been a big delay in the release of a lot of new bikes. This year will see the most new bikes ever released for years. All the engines will be Euro 4 compliant. This means they will be even more economical, last longer, and be much cleaner. It's almost certain the Burgman 400 replacement will come this next summer or earlier, or it may be announced at the end of summer. We will have to see. The new Vespa GTS300 replacement will likely also be announced this summer. The new models have to be announced as the old ones don't comply with the new regs and have be taken off production by the end of 2016 by the latest and most will make the change over much sooner to be sure of not losing sales. So you won't have to wait long.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Been riding for 55 years & owned too many bikes to list here...
