Xmax 300 - more questions.

I have to say these mpg figures are making me quite envious. AND 80mph cruising..
IF/when I trade in the TMax it might be for one of these.

The consumption is a big deal with this bike. For comparison, here's what I used to get for the same journey with other bikes:

Elystar 150 (13hp) 90mpg
Satelis 250 (22hp) 82mpg
J300 (28hp) 76mpg
Xmax 300 (28hp) 93mpg.

Both my TMax and the Honda Shadow do about 55-60 mpg which at the moment is ok for me.
50% more would always be welcome though, but I'd have to do a test ride first to see how they ride. i have to say at the mo' I'm quite happy with my vehicles

Could anyone tell me what speed the X-max 300 does wile running in at 4500 and 5400?
My last scooter a Burgman 400 was painfully slow running in but more than fast enough
once full performance could be used,
I sold it 3 years ago and went to a Yamaha MT07 but now arthritis in my hands is making
clutch operation painful so looking at the X-max.

Just make sure they are warmed up, don't hold too constant a throttle and try not to labour em too much for a few hundred miles...
Just ride it sensible really... (They are maxed out on the dyno at the factory anyhow to make sure everythings OK)... Then change the oil... Very hard with a twist n go to go by revs... Gonna be 55ish if i recall right from the 400... Just run it through the revs adding a little more each time every few miles...
Nursing em too much may not achive a satisfactory crank case pressure to ensure piston ring to bore contact to get a good gas tight seal...

It's about 45 and 55mph. I did mostly keep to those but in the manual it says to only avoid prolonged running at over those revs so that's what I did and exceeded the recommendations when I felt I needed to.

Thanks for that my last Scooter a Bergman 400 only got to about 30 at the 4000 rpm running
in speed the 100 mile home from the dealer put me off for life but once a few more revs were used
it gained a lot more speed for less revs.

Some of the recommendations are downright stupid on scoots with a CVT, where nothing real happens until a particular rev range (often around 5000) is reached! Yamaha used to say keep to 4000 rpm on the Tmax, but that was only 45! However, things have improved as the latest one says don't exceed 5100 for long periods which is about 70. Basically, don't worry too much about arbitrary rev limits, but don't thrash it!

Mine was in the lower but it may depend on the mechanic who prepped it out of the box.
