I had a look at a couple of Tmax's on Friday two things struck me, one was the height of the "tunnel" I suppose it is step-thruable ( there I've learnt a new word) :D but not easily. The other was the price £13000 ouch, One was brand new the other nearly. I shall have to have a look at some older(much) models. I was surprised at the height of the tunnel on 650 burgman when I sat on it.

They're OK if you sneak up on them while they're on the sidestand and not looking at you...you just kind of slide your leg through the gap then bring the bike upright. A knack soon learned!

As I said, the tunnel on the newer Tmaxs IS more awkward than on previous models - its a little higher for some reason, and a little wider. Its annoying as I can't see a really good reason for it, and there is a tendency to scrape your boot across the plastics when getting on. Earlier versions were that little bit lower. As with the Burger, that's where the engine is. I do manage to step through each time - I'm not keen on faffing with putting sidestands down and swinging your leg over if I can avoid it! £13k? Last time I knew, even the top-spec verson was only £11.4k. Even Honda's new Africa Twin based Deauville replacement tourer is only £13k with DCT including panniers! Makes the Forza 750 at £10k seem a bargain, though that is definitely NOT step-thruable!

btw I note from the Yamaha website that the price of the Tmax TechMax is £12k, with an extra £1k for the Akra exhaust if required! Its is helluva lot! Base model not available these days, it seems.
