Forza 350 (or 125) fuel filler flap

Post by Ministerofsillywalks »

In theory the fuel filler flap should flip up when you press the 'Fuel' button. Mine doesn't, and I gather this is quite a common problem with Forzas. Well I have found a simple solution:

Oh. The link doesn't work. Or at least it doesn't on my computer. Just press the bodywork a couple of inches above the flap and up it comes. Usually.

There's another method here:

It's an adjustment issue. Basically take the slack out of the cable and it works. Mine was done at the first service, Padgetts knew all about the problem.

Think I'll go with the pressing on the bodywork idea. I'm reluctant to start using glue in case I glue it shut! :o

I always have my credit card in my hand to pay for fuel, when I want to release the filler cap, so if it sticks I just put it in the gap at the end of cap and flick it open - it's easy.

My 2018 Forza 300 had this fuel flap problem for a while. I may have accidentally hit the open fuel flap with my boot getting off to refuel and misaligned it. Every time I filled up I had to give the flap a little lift with my fingernail to open it, then afterwards I'd play about moving the flap to the left and right hoping to align it.

Then one day I got it right and it's opened on the button ever since.

I had exactly this problem with my Hyundai car but with the added complication that the release button was inside the car but the flap was on the passenger side. As mentioned above I had to carry an old store card and jam this in the gap before pressing the button. Flap then sprung open and the card ended up on the ground. Dealers failed to fix it on two attempts but to be fair it was not repeatable until weeks without use had passed.
