When in Rome…..

Post by Stibbs »

I’m currently visiting Rome where my niece teaches. It’s our first ever visit and impressed with the city and its history. The past two afternoons and evenings we’ve sat and enjoyed a glass or two of the local grape juice. We’ve found a nice bar on a busy intersection near the Vatican City. It is Maxi, and mini, heaven. Every scooter you could ever think of is flying through the traffic and how riders are not killed in their scores every day amazes me. Apart from the usual Italian Vespas, Piaggios et al darting around the proliferation of SH300i’s is interesting. They are very popular especially for the two up brigade. I’ve also seen a good few Forza 350’s however I’ve yet to encounter an ADV?
Still, I’ve a couple of evenings left to spot one.

Well, if I do see one I’ll let you know. Ciao Amicos…….. icon_maxi_scoot.gif icon_moped.gif

Différent market

They love the big wheeled step throughs over there, you’ll see plenty of piaggio Beverly’s about

The ADV is more popular in the UK where scooters are far less well accepted by motorcyclists, the pseudo adventure image helps a tad

I am jealous, don't normally like touristy places but Rome is a brilliant place. That's kinda stating the obvious but there is so much too see and it's all within an easy walk.

I’ve ridden a fair bit in Italy on my touring bikes, it’s not far from here and I love it, you just have to recalibrate your brain to local riding customs, especially in cities

Yes you’re right, Beverley’s are everywhere……it’s just nice seeing scooters being utilised as they should be.
