Have any of you experienced a pinion oil issue?
The previous owner of the SRV I bought have neglected to service it and seems to never have changed the pinion oil in 36K kms.
I have had strong knocking sound and mirror vibrations when taking off.
Thought this was his Dr Pulley clutch but no, when it was replaced with all original parts the issues were still there.
Now that I have topped up the pinion oil (a 5 min job, just pull the V panel on the ight and unscrew 3 screws for the passenger footpeg, then Screw D (p. 53 Service Manual) - the knocking sound is gone!
But - mirror vibrations remain at start, and some whoop-whoop-like parasitic vibes at speed.
Could the cardan shaft or its sliders be damaged/worn?
What else can cause the symptoms? (It also has got worn chain and pinions)
Looking at some videos on YouTube and they have no vibrations on mirrors at all when starting, I’m so envy!
