Yep, smear it all over the electrics to keep them from rusting....
:o

Yeah...I've used good quality car oil in my motorcycles, even the GSX1400 with no problems. As you said, avoid the friction modified oils in engines with oil bath clutches. With my Burgman is has roller bearing big, small and main bearings and it operates at low oil pressure of course due to simply not having the need for high pressure feed to keep the bearing surfaces apart as with shell bearings. However, in tests we did ages ago, roller bearings and ball both benefit from fully synthetic oil and I intend to switch to Shell Advanced fully Syn motorcycle oil in the Burgman at the first main service at 4k or there abouts. Using fully synthetic also reduces friction in the engine and improves mpg's. And it is just noticeable. Not going to do it before 4k as the cylinder, piston and rings won't have fully finished conforming and fully syn will prevent it from doing so if added too early. I buy all my oil from 'Smith & Allan' on tinternet and fully syn is usually the same price or less than semi syn. Delivery is free. (note: oil prices go up and down so will vary).

Get oil here: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/smith-and-alla ... b=13583467 Smith & Allan are one of the biggest suppliers of oil in the UK. All kosha! :)

Quality ENGINE oil is quality oil for engines. For the average rider/driver there's no need for special formulations. Your only real choices are semi- or full synthetic.

I would use a decent brand of semi- or full synthetic in any four-stroke scooter.

i have always used car oil in my scoots with dry clutch

i did use a cheap tesco mineral oil in my suzuki bandit years ago. it did affect the clutch a little but car oil isnt recommended on geared bikes

asda do 5 litres for £20 click and collect
