When I bought my first bike (Suzuki TS185) I had no training whatsoever before I rode it on the road, never even so much as read the highway code.
I expect that I am not the only member of this forum to be in this position.
Anyone objecting to people using car licences to ride an LT seems like sour grapes to me, a case of "I had to pay for bike training and tests so why shouldn't they?"
As I see it if they have a car licence then chances are they have already paid for training and a test.
I just don't see what the fuss is about, if you can drive a car you already understand how to use the road and that's the biggest part of what a test is about.
Learning how to use an LT is a matter of a few minutes practice.

I find myself in agreement with GN2, but for entirely different reasons.

If individuals would rather circumvent the law than appreciate the requirement for proper training, and if they truly believe their car `skills` equip them for a tilting three-wheeler then the only compulsion should be to have insurance - third party and death benefit.

That way, when they do the country a favour and kill themselves it's not a burden on tax payers to foot the bill for their funerals, and anyone caught up in their own pathetic lack of abilities can at least be assured of financial compensation when they are injured as a result of their incompetence or insanity.

I would also argue that such people should be forcibly sterilized before being allowed to straddle their licence-busting funeral carriage, as clearly they should never be allowed to breed.

Are we half a step away from stopping allowing car drivers to ride mopeds too?

I always thought that was an odd one, but based on when it came out when a moped was exactly that, a bicycle with a small engine, it must have made sense then. I guess the FS1E changed all that, but even that one could be peddled, (after a fashion!).....

My dad had a NSU Quickly, which he fabricated a simple pillion over the back carrier. Both of us used to go fishing on it, and it did best part of 40 two up!

These days, they are all scooters as far as I know, but they go much slower. Am I right in saying that the Supercub is now classed as a moped too, when it never was forty years ago? Is it now governed to 30mph?

oh man. That sucks for the French.

If there is a country with the most MP3's sold, that is France. Paris is filled with 3 wheeled scooters.
