Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and without doubt an iconic design, even more so than any modern scooter now or in the future.. That is why it is still being sold today.

Yes it is a limited design as regards what it can do. Not fast, not great MPG, but that's not what its about.

You ride one of these and you do get people stopping to look as you ride past.

That new Vespa is just an exercise in lets design something quirky to get people talking not lets build a scooter that people want. The "ugly & outdated" PX design has sold in its millions all around the world and continues to do so as well as people restoring old ones.

Is the mk1 Escort an ugly design compared to the Focus? If somebody made a mk1 Escort now I'd buy it! :D

Bet the wifes car got disc brakes though - and the foot wells don’t fill with water and the rear sliding brake piston housing – well isn’t there and the bottom of the front screen don’t leak and the door hinges haven’t dropped and any fs key will open the doors and the diff don’t whine and the inner sill aren’t rotten and - - - - - well you get the picture.
But yes the shape is nice, better than the mk2

And that's the joy of a free world, how boring it would be if everyone had exactly the same idea of beauty and perfection.

Having said that for me the vespa/lml shape is fugly, but then so is the Tmax - and this from someone who rides the scooter with the beak and who thinks the best shaped car in the world is the old Fiat 126! :D

I'd have one for running into town, if I wasn't such a fat bastard...

I quite like the look of that LML auto & I can see that there is probably a market for a traditional looking learner scoot with a more modern engine and transmission.
I learned to ride years ago on a Vespa PK50 and then a Vespa PX125 & currently have a LML 125 2 stroke in the garage which is my hobby bike but in all honesty I couldn't rely on it as my only form of transport.
That said it has been reliable for the last 12 months and 2000 miles but that's after having a new crankshaft, piston, and cylinder fitted last year under warranty.
I think you buy a LML / Vespa with your heart and cant really expect the same levels of reliability as you would get with a modern maxi scoot.
Im lucky in owning one of each :) but my 1999 Honda Foresight is hardly modern in todays terms I suppose.

That was my first car.
Fun while it lasted, but wouldn't want another one.
