I think winter tyres are a real benefit for cars if you can be bothered with the hassle.
If the weather is so bad that winter tyres are called for, its probably best to leave the scooter at home.

Winter tyres, as opposed to snow tyres, come into their own when the temperature drops below 7 degrees c

I bought Hankook winter tyres for my rover 25 a couple of years ago.
My lads got it now but we never changed them. People told me they'd wear very quick but they've done a creditable 24,000 miles so far with 3mm still left on the front.
They are definitely an improvement in snow and when it's cold and wet.
I've not found any problem in summer driving.

With regard to 2 wheels, I don't do many miles but still have to do short trips in winter. So I fancy these for next time.

Hmmm Yes - but I'm struggling with the concept of 'wet' grip at -10C!! At -10C the roads will be icebound - even salt stops working at that temperature! In the cold December a year or 2 ago, there were several mornings with that sort of temperature (with frozen powder snow the weekend before), and the roads were damned scary even in the car, and absolutely no-go for PTWs (even if you didn't freeze to death).

Even in TMax mk3/4 sizes. No more expensive than normal Brigestones!!!

Winter tyres or not, no way am I riding ever again if the temperature is set to fall below zero or when there is snow. Why? Because I have broken my ankle (the same one) twice riding in these conditions, the latest resulting in a metal plate and screws and four months off work. Instead I am buying a car in December and selling it in March. One more broken bone and I will have run out of arguments to make to my anti-bike family and the bike will have to go, to be replaced with a car. And this is the last thing I want.
