I totally agree that some people won't travel beyond the boundaries of their village and that's something the rest of us have to accept. A perfect example is the Muppets in the South West? according to the "where are you from" stats there are 25 registered muppets in the SW? Including myself I can find 16 in Devon & Cornwall, the other 9 are maybe from Somerset,Dorset or perhaps the NEW? South West.....Wiltshire

Even so, 16 is a decent number of riders, but nothing regarding meets or ride outs ever seems to be posted or attempted???
We have some of the best points of interest/Places to go to for a ride out here in the South West and I would love to organise something, but seeing the apathetic response from us Pirates & Smugglers to other meets doesn't fill me with confidence

I tend to do the annual x9oc club meets now. All booked for north Yorkshire.
And there will be the pie and mash ride this summer.

or maybe peoples work commitments dont allow it or in my case my scooter is my escape for a few hours and i point it towards somewhere but very rarely get there because i might see something interesting on route i prefer to do my own thing . its nothing to do with being apathetic .. i have lived across the road from paignton green for 20 years but have never been to a bike night or the festival its just not my thing ..

Fair comment Jamie, and I did say we have to accept people don't want to do group rides etc
The apathy comment was based on those who have previously committed to a ride out and then backed off with all manner of reasons other than work/family commitments, mainly if so and so is going then their not? etc.
Admire your 'unplanned detour' style

definitely the only way to ride.

Those that want to do are already doing it most who just commute to work are not interested .If anyone is really keen but has work or family to consider its one weekend out of the year and if planned months ahead can be worked around time booked off work ect.The scooter rally trad guys get list of rallies at start of year and plan which ones they want to go to .So its all about how much you want to do it .
In the old days on here you had Ginger Phil and JohnP were keen and had couple of Rutland meets they are not bothered now they used to pull everyone together .Wozza did a couple of good ones then got fed up of the hassle .Gerard managed to get few together up his way and Ugly bunch probably do the most thats about it except for odd pie n mash run
