I like the Burgman 400 from that list, after 2007 the engine is much better, it is still a light flickable scoot, good fun to ride and can do long motorway hauls when needed. Cheap road tax rates and good fuel economy. I'm enjoying my one, just back from an 860 mile ride around north Wales this week.

or if touring / miles is ya bag maybe a Maj400....

2 things

1 Have a day with an instructor so you ride how they want you to ride .I know you ride a lot but you may be over confident and have picked up bad habits

2 Stop slagging your employer off or you wont be able to get a bigger scoot / bike .I saw your post to Leeds MAG about the company using bike park spaces don't bite the hand that feeds you .

I'd steer well away from the FJR as a first bigger bike. They are huge and heavy and I'd suspect you'd find them a pain in the behind. I bought a Pan European which is similarish (though allegedly lighter than an FJR I believe) and found it a nightmare and I traded it in after 3 weeks! Even the big Burger felt like a moped in comparison. And of course the (Semi)Auto versions of the FJR are very rare.

Probably best to stick to something thats a decent step up from a little bike without going to town, say a mid range 3-500cc scoot.

Looks like the burgman 400 is the answer, Local piaggio deal have a Burgman 400 in there show room think it priced at just over 2,000 will need to take a look, its a 2009 / 2010 model i belive.

Make sure you ride one before deciding, they're good but lower seat position than the X9, which you may prefer but also may not.

If you keep your X9 125 (and why not) then there is imho little additional use in a 250cc.

Just got my Self a Piaggio X9 250 SL ( honda one ) in good condtion, Piaggio Factory heated grips and Piaggio working P.i.c.s, chrome crash bars, new brake pads and front and back tires with new rear shock osorbers and full service, no digidash problems.

Free! lol did a swap with a mate for after my test :d
