I will ask the weather gods for special dispensation for you
Are you bringing the Maxum with you .
Will you need help at the port a crane or something to unload it?

No, not bringing the scoot although I am sure it would fit into the Emirates A380 ok. Last time I rented a car and toured I am sure it's a great place for bikes

Good to hear you're coming over SP. Oh yea, no end of good touring reviews. In general, South Island, generally empty roads & Good People. Have to watch out for the higher ratio of tourists - I've had a camper van come straight at me by a driver who'd forgotten where they were!
North Island: much busier. I haven't ridden anywhere near Auckland (hell, haven't even been that far north in many years!)
Dare I say it, the NI has a few places that are a little, shall we say, 'nogo areas'. I'm sure you have them in the UK (nod nod, wink wink ). Maybe more 'just keep moving...'. Don't let that put you off though.

I loved the South island thought it was a great place to drive. I did B&B and if I was doing it again I would use a camper van, some of those isolated B&B were a bit duelling banjo's territory. Not sure how much touring I shall be doing this time , one of my close friends an American doctor married a NZ lad and moved over . He has not seen much of the island so he is taking leave whilst I am there so hopefully we wont be spending too much time in Auckland, not that I dislike it but a bit like a village after here. Anyway flights all booked and paid for even got my seat chosen 14K so on me way .
