150hp+?
Overtaking on blind bends?
Speed limit - whats that?
Riding within your own abilities - again whats that?
Standing around in one piece leathers on a hot summers day?
Only riding for a few days within a few months a year then taking the car the rest of the year?
Believe it or not, on the MCN website today, there is a poll saying 'Would you consider commuting by bike instead of using the car?' !!!!! icon_spin-on-head.gif

Would you?? Why the hell wouldn't you?? WTF are these people on??

Different bikes have different characteristics. Some will be boring some will be great.

A 22 bhp vespa is a lot more fun to ride than a 650 burgman that has 50 odd bhp.

:o You'll be in trouble! (in the morning)
Luckily for you, the nurse at the old folks home puts all the burger riders to bed at 8.30 sharp! :D

The 0 to 60 time for the NC700 is about 5.4 secs that's pretty respectable and suits me fine. Great sporty fun around the unclassified, B roads and minor A roads which I'm always out and about on.

Fun is based on how the bike makes u feel. I've had more fun on smaller bikes than bigger particularly round town and twisties.

If anyone gauges how fun a bike is to how fast it goes then you havent rode a wide enough range of bikes yet.

I'll go for practical over fun, I'd rather be on a maxi scooter with it's weather protection and storage than on a Vespa type scooter pretending I'm a a Mod. :D

there is a follow on question to this one in as much as what defines a great bike or ride for that matter, a scooter rider of many years and campaigns once told me "its all about the ride" and i think about that now and then, i commute all year but wouldn't call any of the runs as a great ride, more like relief to have feckin made it
I go for a trip to Jockland or France and although i am like a dog with 2 dicks at the prospect of the long ride, not many have been memorable, on a group ride you are restricted to the speed/roads dictated by others, i think my epic rides have been odd little blasts along back roads on great sunny days where either yer not in a hurry to get anywhere and take in the scenery or find yer self on some open clear stretches with a few nice sweeping bends with no sideroads or other cars etc about so you can give it the beans/big lean
Just bikes for me, oh and the odd car

why do so many people think if you ride a vespa your a mod. I know lots of vespa gts owners, none mods. The gts is a fun scooter to ride, with a big grin factor, they handle extremely well, and have an exellent power delivery for a 300cc , and up to 80 mpg , thats why they are so popular. Nothing to do with owning a two tone suit.
