To many people of my generation, Unleaded indicates lower octane, Super Unleaded indicates higher.

It really is quite simple even if it's not scientifically correct.

I have made my original posts question bold, that may help you and your generation out (and this time I am being sarcastic)

I was told Super Unleaded is far better than Unleaded petrol for your engine but I would like to hear other opinions?
Would it be better to run Super Unleaded in my 2000 YP250 or would Unleaded do the same job?
PS: Thinking more of reliability rather than economy .

I use the higher grade sometimes, and seem to notice a slight increase in performance.....ever been to the usa and tried their petrol ? its so watered down that there cars are sooo sluggish compared to ours, ok a 3.0lt car will still go quick, but it doesnt have to oomph, so a higher octane seems to help ?

I'm sure the reasons for the sticker are entirely financial and not technical in the slightest!

Most bike & scoot makers have a deal with one particular oil maker so 'recommend' their products, but it makes no difference. Yamaha have their own Yamalube products, but I'm other reputable makers' products would work equally well!
