why do so many people think if you ride a vespa your a mod. I know lots of vespa gts owners, none mods. The gts is a fun scooter to ride, with a big grin factor, they handle extremely well, and have an exellent power delivery for a 300cc , and up to 80 mpg , thats why they are so popular. Nothing to do with owning a two tone suit.
Plus there are many genres of scooter riders, mods make up just a part of the scene, if you were born in 50's then all you'll know is Mods  Us younger (45) kids on here know the other genres aswell.

I'm old enough to associate Vespa and Lambrettas with the Mods of the Sixties and the majority of riders I've seen on Vespa type scooters seem to have a dress code that's more fashion than function. It's Quadrophenia meets Skinhead, those naff green nylon jackets and Ben Sherman stuff, I've wandered around a few clothes shops over in Whitby that caters for this look.

I'm sure the GTS is a hoot to ride but it's got zilch weather protection for the upper body so it won't be that much fun to ride far in winter, or when cold rain is finding it's way through your 18 hole oxblood Doc Martens.

,but then im biased, i actually enjoy riding my gts ,but if its raining i dont use it, ,my scoot is strictly for pleasure ,and fine weather

I just say bollox to people who take the piss out of other peoples mode of transport/ choice of clothing.
I had lambrettas and Vespas from 1972 to 2005 had a great time wearing Ben Sherman stuff and Docs. Then I went on to the Tmax and I'm having great fun on that!
The weather protection isn't much better than the Vespa and I know because I ride all year round, and always have done.

Isn't taking the piss out of other people's mode of transport or choice of clothing the normal thing to do, I've read loads of back posts on here taking the piss out of Power Rangers, Harley riders, and cheap Aldi bike kit. Aren't maxi scooters called plastic fag chariots by the trad scooter riders on their tin snails.

Wow, you ride all year and always have done, then you'll have probably noticed over the years that you weren't the only one out there. ;)
