Aren't we playing with definitions here?? What do we mean 'of its type'? Being cynical, you could say that Yes, its the biggest selling scooter with an engine of 650cc that weighs over 275kg with the manufacturers name beginning with S..... there again, how many Burgers have been sold compared to Silverwings, which is a similar scoot??? The general market segment is 'maxiscooters', and the only real subdivision to me that works is on engine size - say 125+ to 250, 250-400 and 500cc+. OK the TMax (and SRV and even X9/X10 etc) are clearly aimed at different people to the Burger, but to call them different types is pushing it a bit!

Hmmm one of the better arguments for the Burger was that you got lots more equipment than the TMax for less cost - but they've partially negated that now! Bit cheeky of Suzuki considering that the 'new' model is remarkably little different in any important respect to the old one.

And the rocket centre at Blackburn have a new aprilia SRV850 at £6700 if your after engine power over comfort

Why do we keep comparing the 650 Burgman with the Tmax? They are chalk and cheese and aimed at different customers. Tmax more sport orientated, Burgman more touring. Having ridden the Tmax I'd never buy one for touring as the Burgman offers so much more for touring and comfort for commuting. From what I'm reading the Burgman's direct competition, the BMW 650's aren't so far ahead either...except in price making the Burgman even better value. Guess we must wait for the all important release of the new Burgman 650 to see the tests on that one for a better comparison in real life. But even comparing the new BMW's to the current model of Burgman it's not far ahead of it, a testament to how good Suzuki got the original design near spot on.

Have to agree the TMax and Burgman 650 aren't really aimed at the same (tiny) market. A fairer comparison would be with the Silverwing.

My biggest concern with the Burgman remains the ECVT and the quality of my local Suzuki dealer.

I also find comparing the B650 and T-max is unfair.

The B650 is touring orientated whilst the T-max is sport orientated.

The B650 can only really be fairly compared to the Silverwing and BMW GT.

Personally of the three i'd go for a Silverwing.

Saying that the Silverwing & Burgman have not really changed to much since been introduced,
yet the T-max has gone through four models...

The Silverwing looks good value compared to the Burgman and BMWs but is desperate need of a facelift, it's looking very dated these days
