Oz: A few rides around home...

Post by Opascoot1 »

Hi All,
been a while since I put up a pic or two

Well, took a few rides recently... I am lucky enough to live smack in the middle of some beautiful riding roads...
(google Oxley Highway, NSW and count the bends... I think it's over 400 ;) )

One nice ride, Juan's Cafe loop, about 450km alround, a warm summers day. Juan's is located at Dorrigo, claims to be the world's smallest motorcyle museum; an excentric south american, fun to chat, his cafe walls are adorned with some brilliant bike posters from years past, his coffee's OK too :)

another brilliant ride
(route: Walcha-Armidale-Ebor-Dorrigo-Tyringham Road/Grafton Road-Ebor-home)

Then, on another recent day I travelled up via Uralla to Bingara-Barraba-Tamworth-Bendemeer-Home, rather warm, because I live at about 1150M above sea level its always cool, but going through the Bingara area that day got up to 37C :?
But, cause of the heat I only took two pics of the same thing, how boring...but...the roads were mainly long straight and very scenic, I can see the advantages in why people own Hyabusa's at times ;) I cruised happily @140 most times...
Check the brilliant mural on the pub wall, oh- and the sexy scoot too

another 420 or so Km, worn out with the heat but a fun ride....

Since then the recently fitted Michellin SC developed strange mico-leaks around the tire wall, it's being replaced when they get stock in under warranty, meanwhile I'm using a Pirelli Diablo, well...once the rain stops I'll use it...still got the factory marking on the outer tread area   A week or so ago it started to rain, now it's flooding to the north and continues to rain..places nearby have had 5inches (!!) in 3 hours, but that's the beauty of Australia, a land of contrast....

Nice to say Hello again, Nexus going strong, fast and looking forward to maybe getting a new pipe soon, MIVV, or Akrapovic, the silence and heavy weight of the standard pipe is getting boring....

Ta Ta till next time

Good to hear from you again, good pictures too. Sound like some exceptional riding roads in your part of Oz.

:) Yeah, it's great to be back...

Here's another day trip, a little over 500km, went via some little country towns to Inverell (NSW) and back across to Glen Innes and back home via Guyra/Armidale.

leaving home in cool 12C arriving in Bundarra in 24C I needed to strip off my winter gear and go cool...stopping at a cafe, the owners came out and sat with me..not a busy place

Cuppa time..

Got lost, only 10KM out, gorgeous country!

Leaving Glen Innes I got a nice cuppa at a strawberry/Lavender farm while getting my winter gear back on for the cool journey home, this was about 5pm and back to 10C.

Arriving home just after dark, which I dread, bugs come out here in summer, my helmet and front of the scoot were coated in bugs, but nights here are also risky for our big bunnies (kangaroo), they tend to pop out unannounced but I've not had one do it yet...(imagine a 6-7foot tall bunny @ 140kmh   :o )

another lovely ride..
but at the moment we have an abundance of rain and floods to the north and east, so I'm enjoying the garden and the car...

Hopefully back soon with some more fun ride pics from wet, windy, floody, Downunder
Ta Ta for now

Sunday morning,29th. Woke to another cloudy, windy, drizzly day..best way to deal with it was to get dressed in my full wet gear and go...only a little ride, brilliant time, only rained for half the trip.only one pix when I stopped for a cig

One fine Sunday, after dealing with a burst water pipe at home I took off around my big block (150km).
Met a lovely couple from Argentina on their way to Tasmania, then a nice sprint home along the winding Oxley highway.
My max-speed readout must be faulty, don't remember doing 178

Well they were both taken on sunny days and there's some greenery in the background.
