Start of the season

Post by Bluebottle »

I'm looking forward to the start of the new riding season.
I have been off the road since last Sunday! OK, I'm a wuss - but after 3 days of off season I'm itching to get going again.

Most of the snow down to the main road has gone now so I will be back on the road tomorrow.
Before then I have to find out what exhaust note is fashionable this year :P

I hope it warms up a bit though, I have to go over Woodhead/Snake pass at the end of the week

23 views and no comments. Well, until now.

Technically speaking as I use my scoot for commuting, the snow was on a Sunday, and I rode to work on Monday, my season never ended.

Even riding in today when the snow is mostly gone, it was really nice realising that aside from a single Deauville and a single BMW, there was an absence of "real bikes" amongst the traffic into London. Good few scooters though.

Tomorrow morning I have to be at Stanstead just after 6am. I am so not looking forward to riding up the M11 - it's going to be bloody freezing....

You could have a lovely 2009 250cc scooter with just 31000miles on the clock for £2k. Just send me a pm.

Go on, I know you want to... ;)

This.

Ummm this too.
I dont care about labels, however you do notice on my London commute, those bikers that ride everyday, and those that only ride when conditions are nicer.
A sports bike guy at work said he dosent ride when it's hosing down because he often has more sport/track orientated tyres on, and his longer commute is much less pleasant when it's negative temperatures. Which sort explains why some only see the year as three seasons long ;)

Well, round here, the back roads are still very icy - didn't help having a shower of RAIN at sub-zero temperatures last night! I've been in the car for the last couple of days, given the ice. With the baby Burgman STILL in pieces in the dealers awaiting parts, I had to use the TMax, which I'm slightly reluctant to do as I don't really want it to get salted up.
Decided to walk the TMax to the end of the road where the gritting starts. One thing for that is that it really warms you up, and you do NOT feel cold on the rest of the journey!

If anything, bikers and scoot riders are less able to be put into little boxes than just about any other group of people. Yeah, I'm a little curious when anybody talks about the 'riding season' but so what? I say it's a sweater, you say it's a jumper, I say it's shrimp, you eat prawns...
