Evening Muppets,I am thinking of a good full face or flip up lid, looking for low wind noise, one colour or quietly painted & up to about £150,
Any sugestions to narrow it down a bit for me?
problem is there are not many quiet helmets around for that price, yer some are quieter than others but you will be hard pressed to get an extremely quiet one for that money, schubert are the quietest but are like 300-400 quid,
i have never spent more than 150 on a lid, and my past couple of lids have been HJC's they are worth a look, as they do flip fronts too, i would suggest getting a good handful of ear plugs though, i ride with ear plugs in and they seem fine, let enough noise through as to not get you killed but not so much that it drives you insane,
i have a HJC IS-16 drafing, which i have never worn, size Large, looking for £80, cost me 150, its not that plain though, but it is white and black, so not too ott, google it to see which one i mean if your interested
HJC do some reasonably priced Flips, not the quietist though. I have an IS-Max, now demoted to being a spare. I thought it was pretty good for a budget helmet.
I usually wear a Nolan N-90 which is quiter, feels more solid and well made but is a bit over your budget. They do pop up in sales now and again at Hein Gerricke etc so worth keeping an eye out. Includes a pinlock and the chin bar stayed shut in impact tests when other helmets didn't always.
Take a look at the Sharp helmet test site. Some of the results are disputed but you will get some ideas

Thats given me something to go with,I like the look of the Nolan N-90,& good reviews too,I will see if they have any local to me to try on,thanks,& again thanks for the offer M,H. Nexus500,but I realy like to try a helmet on for fit.
I have a Nolan N90 and rate it very highly, it's my favourite helmet for long distances. I recently got a Givi Modular flip which is also excellent and around the £150 mark, the only thing it lacks is pinlock but if I need it I'll fit a universal stick on insert.

Vespa GTS300 Super for practical runabout, Triumph Tiger Explorer for conquering the planet. Car almost obsolete.
Get the helmet which is most comfortable on your head, you need to try them out.
If the ones on sale in Lidl fit you nicely, well you've saved up to £110
