I've been thinking

Post by StevenM »

With the price of fuel about £200 a month in fuel, yamaha expensive parts that I should be better off with a smaller bike, I've been looking at nexus 300 and a derbi gp1 250. What are your thoughts?

A realistic price for a mk1, even with a strong 2nd hand market, is roughly £1200 - £1700, much less on a part-ex.

Understand where you're coming from on this one Steve. I used my Tmax to commute 6 days a week, 60 miles a day. Trying to keep to a sensible speed on the motorway was difficult! Worked out my 1.8 Audi was costing a fortune, the Tmax not far behind (about 35mpg) so for the winter opted for the work courtesy Smart Car, a wallet warming 65mpg. :D

Now with summer approaching I was hankering for two wheels and decided on a Vespa GTS250ie. What a hoot! £11.00 for a full tank, takes off like a scalded cat and tops out around 80. Handling is very good, brakes excellent and it gives me a big grin everytime I climb aboard.

Downsizing is very popular at the moment... and I can see why. ;)

Yeah, and they keep being relisted.
You can put any price you want on it, but it's a buyers market, and they ain't parting with the folding! ;)

the sportcity sounds good to me, my maj 250 did the job on the trip, steve, and so would me gts, better economy, and you can thrash them everywhere, 250's are good in my book.
