BMW scooters arriving soon (allegedly)
According to Scooter Station, the fabled BMW scoots will go sale to those with deep pockets in Germany on the 21st July, and the rest of Europe on the 28th. Where's that piggy bank????

Why not try ordering a test ride and see what they say? You can do it via the official UK website:

i have a feeling this will turn out to be the biggest flop in bmw's history. unfortunate that it's going to put a dent in the maxi scooter market. Any other bike, i wouldn't be so sorry...

I disagree. I reckon these will be a big hit, although not necessarily in the UK. And when the leccy version arrives they'll probably go stellar.

There hasn't been much in the way of success with any leccy vehicle vehicle so far, and the one's that are sold (car world anyway) usually have large tax payer subsidies to help with the cost of purchase as they're so fecking expensive (rich persons toy)..... New batteries will require an extended mortgage to pay for them.

Re: BMW scooters arriving soon (allegedly)
I know this raises the chance of another pointless argument on electric scooters but still, here we go...
Battery life is even now quoted as around 10years - how many scooters don't need major work by then? And surely by the time that arrives the cost of replacements will have dropped dramatically.
Alternatively, there is the way Renault are doing it - rent the battery.
And surely I cannot be the only one who has thought of the idea that battery packs could be "dropped & swopped" (not yet copyrighted this idea so hands-off!) at "petrol" stations in a matter of a couple of minutes. You could pay a deposit to enter Esso's (random petrol company name) scheme, then pay either a monthly rental for battery use or alternatively do a pay-as-you-go when you pull in to swap your drained battery for a freshly recharged one. No need to ever charge a battery yourself except for a top-up overnight if you want to. and yes I know this means infrastructure building, but we already have petrol stations that are one day going to be as good as chocolate teapots anyway - should be straightforward to store and charge batteries on-site. Also provide a few extra jobs too for people to do the Dropping & Swapping. You'd have to also think Kwik Fit and the like would also jump on this bandwagon as exhausts become obsolete.
