I know that I likely won't need a new one for several thousand miles but came across someone who used one of these on their TMax for 22000km's before needing a new one

Re: Drive Belt
but at 1/4 the price... two and it would last longer than the TMax OEM right? for only half the price?
Re: Drive Belt
I had a (£30) belt fitted to my Max.
Not sure of the actual mileage it covered, but it was near the OEM belts predicted life (12,000 miles) when i replced it.
Still looked as good as new, but on checking it was down below the "width" limits of wear.
I always expected it to break at anytime, but it did not.

Re: Drive Belt
Even though the cheap ones seem to last up to the normal service length, if when changed they exhibit signs of splitting or cracking I still wouldn't risk it. Who knows how much further they would go without total and sudden failure. An OEM belt lasts well past the service mileage, possibly even double, and rarely shows any signs of structural distress when removed.
There is also the potential for a belt snap to cause other transmission damage, possibly cause an accident with a chance of injury to the rider, and then there is the hassle of a roadside recovery to wait a few hours for, outweighs any short term savings a half price belt may offer.
The Mitsuboshi ones from Carpimoto seem well priced for any model and worth a punt as they are marginally cheaper than OEM from Easyparts with the currency conversion.

Re: Drive Belt
not bad a £20ish less, just saw pictures of that one in the link after 20,000km... scary split in it, hardly worth the risk.
