Dear Mr XXXXXXXX
HONDA MOTORCYCLES SH300i - ENGINE CAN STALL
Following investigation, Honda Motorcycles have established that with the engine
idling and the centrifugal clutch disengaged, if the throttle is opened slowly to about 2
degrees it can cause the fuel injection system to over fuel and cause an over rich
mixture, resulting in unstable combustion and the stall condition. The issue is similar
to the recall issue, but only affects a very small number of machines. To address the
issue, Honda have remapped the engine ECU. They will use the new ECU for any
outstanding machines affected by the recall and will also replace any ECU's on any
machine where it is reported to have experience the same issue.
I believe that Honda have dealt with the issue on your machine by replacing it with a
later model.
I would like to thank you for raising the issue with VOSA and should you wish to
discuss this matter in more detail please do not hesitate to contact me.
