Vespa GTR 300 touring

Post by scootersthefuture »

Hey all.
Does anyone have experience of the bike ? is it any good, what will it cruise at, MPG etc ? Thinking of buying one and would be delighted for impartial advice.

Dont you mean Vespa GTs?. ive not not heard of a GTR Vespa,it will cruise at around 65 70, all day with a top speed approaching slightly above 80mph
and its same engine as vespa 300 super, and super sport ,difference could colour and front and rear racks

I have just bought a 500cc (actually 460cc) Piaggio X9 Evo for touring and having covered about 500 miles on it so far I reckon I would struggle to (fast) tour on anything less powerful. I traded a big 1500cc Kawasaki cruiser and the X9 is better for me. Cruising speed on the motorway is about 80-85 mph and it tops out at just a tad over the ton.
If I want to cruise/tour slowly I use the C90 and that will go on forever at 45-50mph but 200 miles is about all I can do before the excessively sore arse syndrome sets in !!
So I suppose what i am saying is, think about what sort of touring you want to do and buy the right machine. Don't be swayed by aesthetics, let comfort and power rule ;)
As a bit of an aside the X9 is the driest bike I have ever ridden in the rain, but I didn't know that before I got it. Just lucky on that one.

Yep i did mean GTS, and thanks both for the comments. I ended up buying another newer Burger 400 and it's great.
Cheers !
