2008 Tmax series 3
I am looking at buying a Tmax 2008 series 3 as i am familiar with Majesty's but not with the Tmax. Can anyone help me with anything i need to look for or has their been any recalls as they are rear to get a Tmax with only 18,000kms in this country. Tmax 530's are not in New Zealand and 2008 was last imported to this country. Can someone please help.

Can't think of any particular issues to look out for. I had some radiator issues, but thats not obvious until it fails!
Only thing I'd say is that whilst mk1s and 2s were made in Japan, the mk3s were made in Spain- for Europe anyway. I've no idea whether you'd get European made ones or Japanese ones out in NZ! The Spanish ones get weren't quite as well made as the earlier ones, so I guess judging how well looked after any Tmax you consider is important. Consumables like tyres, drive belts, brake disks, filters etc are pricy so factor that in! The 20,000 km services can be expensive if you are paying main dealer prices.

The only recall I have heard of stems from TMax fever, related to the fuel pump as you know, which is also easy enough to fix for very little money.

Where did you find the info on Spain production Mr Grumpy? Doesn't alarm or surprise me as the bulk of Kawasaki's range have been manufactured in Thailand for years now. And let's not forget Serveta gave us some of the strongest engine casings for the Lambretta

SOMEBODY on here said they were from Spain - forget who! You always get a feeling about how well made things are, even if you can't tell specifically why. I always thought my 30,000 mile used every day mk2 was as good as the day it was new when it got written off, but I didn't get that feeling with the mk3.Sgt Ernie Bilko wrote:'Only thing I'd say is that whilst mk1s and 2s were made in Japan, the mk3s were made in Spain- for Europe anyway.'

And don't start me on the Spanish made baby Burger - endless and apparently unfixable hassles.

Only thing that comes to mind about recalls is the fuel pump and broken stem on mirrors.
