X10 brake pump?
Pal of mine who owns a Piaggio X10 took his scooter in for 10,000ish service and noted that the brake pumps had to be changed, he asked what were brake pumps, mechanic was also puzzled so went to find out, turned out it,s master cylinder!. Pal asked why they have to be replaced and it,s part of the service schedule, each cylinder costs £70 plus VAT plus fitting around £200 total. Pal very disgruntled at this happening every 10000 miles. Any one know of this, iv,e never heard of having to replace master cylinder as part of a service.

Re: X10 brake pump?
Has been discussed before, given no similar entry for Bev 350 we think there's a mistranslation.

Re: X10 brake pump?
The Bev Sport Touring also has the requirement for 'brake pumps' to be replaced at the rather odd interval of 15k Km, which differs entirely from the normal 10,000km intervals. Unless I can be given a good reason why the master cylinder needs replacing at such a short interval, I don't think I'll bother!

Re: X10 brake pump?
Something for those who keep going on about the extra costs of the SYM shorter service intervals, changing out the master cylinder as part of the service, I think not.

I thought I read somewhere that this poor translation has been resolved and the correct meaning is brake fluid.

I think they may mean the seals... Master Cylinder and Caliper Seals, along with the brake hose - they are usually down for a 3 yr change...

Re: X10 brake pump?
No - the Bev manual says that brake fluid should be changed every 2 years, in addition to 'normal' service routines, which includes the infamous brake 'pumps'.abitmad wrote:I thought I read somewhere that this poor translation has been resolved and the correct meaning is brake fluid.
