This is excellent news. There are not too many good places on my Burgman to mount a tax disc. Shame we still have to pay it.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

I've often wondered why this wasn't done 10 yrs ago. The tech has been there for at least that long!

As MikeG said in the comments section...

Why do we have a complex vehicle tax system anyway? If all tax was on the price of fuel it would automatically factor in engine size, transmission efficiency, miles driven, style of driving etc and would need no cameras or expensive admin to enforce payment – no fuel, no go."

I've been saying this for years but no one in listens.

Agree should have been done years ago would of stopped all those tossers nicking tax disks . I also think the fair way to do it would be to put it on the cost of fuel, then you pay what you use, mummy dropping her little angels at school in her huge 4x4 can pay for it.

The tossers would nick your number plate instead lol, and do traffic wardens have the ability to electronically check if a vehicle is taxed? Because you're bound to get the odd report of them reporting vehicles with no tax disc, But I do like the fuel idea.

Traffic wardens don't check them they are employed by councils but the police do and have been using Road side monitoring cameras for a while

Bloody good idea and makes so much sense too! Pay as you go - even our dear foreign truckers would have to contribute - though I suspect they'll just install larger fuel tanks... :|

So when you get in a vehicle to drive it, how do you know it is taxed and will you still get prosecuted if there is no way to check?
