Hi
being a brand new rider , and not even a car driver, i have no idea what to do if something goes wrong with my Honda S-Wing 125,
But...today firstly i noticed something wasnt right... the speedo seems to be doing 10mph more than i actually am , so i beleive i have and issue there , and secondly on the way home from work tonight the " Oil Change " light came on!! . I have no idea what to do with these issues , can anyone help or point me in the direction to get help?

All speedos read over, often by 10%, have you a GPS to do a proper accuracy check?

Oil light is linked to mileage, if it's s/hand bike do you know when it was last changed, sometimes mechanics forget to reset. Otherwise it means you're due an oil change!

Simple to DIY just need a suitable sump plug socket/spanner, oil & filter plus ideally a new copper washer. Oh and something to drain the oil into, normally a plastic tub or old oil container suitably cut up.

Thanks for the reply , I managed to get my haynes manual and it seems easy to change , but never said anything about changing a filter.... do you know what type of oil i need , knowing me i will probably get the wrong one if not told specifically what to get

where are you based - perhaps a knowledgable muppet may watch over your shoulder whilst holding a cup of tea?

I have a halfords next door to where I work..but have no idea what oil to get amongst the 100 different types on display

The Haynes manual will tell you what oil to use. Little tip is oil branded as for motorcycles is normally more expensive. You can normally get exactly the same oil for cars at a much better price.

if it has a wet clutch don't put 'car oil' in due to the friction modifiers

All the information you are asking about should be in your bikes handbook( have you read it?). The first thing i do with any bike i buy is sit down and read the handbook from cover to cover. You don't neede a workshop Manual unless, you know what you are doing and are competent, mechanically.

I haven't always received a handbook when buying scooters.
I'm not a great mechanic but I always buy a manual for any scoot I buy. I've still got a Lambretta manual from the 60's.
It helped me realise what a circlip was. For months I had used bent copper wire to hold the gear change rod in place.
I tend to hoard stuff so I've now got about a dozen various manuals for cars and scooters.
I really ought to stick some of them on ebay!
