Analysis:
Concerning sales of 2 and 3 in France motorized wheels, the CSIAM (House of Trade Unions International Automobile and Motorcycle Cycling) has presented a rather positive on the occasion of its meeting of 1st semester 2014 balance sheet. Hexagonal market up 10.1 % compared to the beginning of 2013. on the 61,333 vehicles sold , 18,075 are scooters, which represents an increase of 8.9% , increasing the volume of motorcycle about it 12.8 % ( with a total of 35,299 units).
Within the family that interests us, that of commuters , note that the three -wheelers take ( forever ) the market upwards, with a strong increase of 31.8 %. In contrast, in the two-wheel scooter category , large disparities appear. Indeed, if the share of 250/500 cm3 increases 57% , the 500 to 750 cm3 fell by 16% and the niche + 125 to 250 cm3 a decrease of 54 %. The scooter market 125 is virtually unchanged , with an increase of 1%. In the market for mopeds declining 7.15% , sales of scooters 50 cm3 drop of 8.9%.

Balance sheet at the end of 2014 (forecast) : An increase much less significant
Motorcycles , scooters and three wheels 2 125 cm3 or more, sales early this year are on the rise, first since 2007. Here are some reasons for rejoicing, especially since this recovery is not only French , she finds the whole of the European Union , the countries of the south recording the strongest growth . However this assessment is to qualify as the first semester of 2013, marked by bad weather was pretty bad in the end . As a reminder, January-June 2013 market recorded a decline of 18 % , to finish at - 10 % at the end of the year. Suddenly today , if CSIAM announces increase of 10.1% for the first third of the year , forecasts the end of 2014 brings the increase to 1.8%.
On the second hand market , his health remains sunny , despite the increase in new vehicle sales . Developments so as his last years when the new home market was declining , compensation was effected on the second hand market . Today, these two markets are almost equally.

Thanks for posting that. Very interesting to see the number of 3 wheelers sold!

Could never see the attraction of 3 wheels but maybe I should have had a test ride on one! I am a great believer in don't knock it until you've tried it!

I was speaking to our local Yamaha rep the other day,he said the sales figures for France and Italy for the X-Max (all capacities) are quite astounding. It makes you wonder why they bother with the UK.

Indeed. I think we should count ourselves lucky we have such a good choice of machines given the relative sales figures. It also brings into perspective decisions such as not to bother with providing decent MPH speedos.

+1 !

I think the future could be even brighter if Piaggio worked out how to put a safety cage (Like the BMW C1) with a convertible roof on the MP3 500 LT. That would tempt even more non-motorbike licence holders out of their "safer" cages cars and allow them all the benefits of PTW - less queuing and easier parking. :geek:
