Scooters worse than HGVs for emissions

Post by StephenC »

Story in the Telegraph.

Shame on them for taking the results of such a study seriously.

Why?

Because they are talking about 2-strokes. How many 2-strokes are actually used in London nowadays? The only ones I ever come across are very old Vespas puttering about. I'd estimate that about 98% of scoots on the commute are modern 4 bangers.

And to think that this is in the "science" section too. Grrr! Angry.

It is talking about 'Europe' then the 'World' and the environmental impacts where they are more dominant. But I share your frustration that the opening is shit reporting because it makes a such a sweeping statement, the title should say 2 stroke scooters worse than HGV's for emissions.

It's a shame but I was chatting to a Telegraph journalist one evening last week. If it was this week I could have told her to put her colleague straight. :(

And even then it should say "old" 2-strokes. You can get Speedfight 3's but they are Euro3 compliant.

What a truly awful sensationalist article... I wonder where they conducted this research Phnom Penh? Well they certainly wouldn't find many 2 strokes on our streets.

This was the argument that Westminster Council used to introduce motorcycle parking charges. Extreme right wing Council and Telegraph go together hand in hand.

Excuse me, but please don't start bringing silly politics into the issue of scooters. It's poison, so lets stay away from left and wing politics thanks.
