Just popped the reg number of my new Silverwing into an insurance comparison site and it shows as a Honda Hornet. Should I panic or is it just a cock up?

I would query it with your insurer just in case because you might not be insured to ride...

No need to panic.
Just a cock-up with the entry to the insurance database.
Just enter make and model manually and you'll be fine.
This happened to a few PCX owners, it came up as an S-wing.

Don't do that unless you have half an hour or more to kill
Go back on the site and select your make/model manually first, see what happens.

I've spoken to the dealer. As it is a franchised Honda dealer they were very efficient, the guy checked the plate on the bike and then emailed me the HPI check. It all looks OK so I must assume the insurers have keyed in the wrong details.

It does happen...my Tmax was coming up as a Virago 535 on one insurer's system! Just make sure all the docs say its what it is.

A couple of years ago I owned a small Microcar.
That used to show up as a 125cc Scooter

You can check any vehicle's basic details on the http://www.gov.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; website. Go to the site and search for vehicle check. Enter the reg number and the manufacturer and it will bring up the info.
