Question for Silverwing/Givi AF214 owners
Hi Chaps. All being well I pick up the Silverwing on Sunday and I've decided that a Givi AF214 'airflow' screen would be a good idea, assuming I don't get on with the stock screen. I've looked around and they all say they fit up to 2009 models, mines a 2011, is this likely to be a problem?

Can't resist this but apparently one of the criticisms of that fine machine is that the design - in itself a classic - has remained unchanged for 100's of years. Only very minor modifications to the coal fired boiler since 1852.

But what do you with the man who comes with it who's job it is to walk in front with a red flag???Meldrew wrote:A very popular upgrade amongst owners is ditching the evil-smelling acetylene headlights and upgrading to halogen lighting as carbide is getting very hard to get hold of these days.Gerard C wrote:Can't resist this but apparently one of the criticisms of that fine machine is that the design - in itself a classic - has remained unchanged for 100's of years. Re: Question for Silverwing/Givi AF214 owners
Well Gerard, i just bought a new Silverwing after test riding the all new(2013) Burgman 650. I did not need all the gadgets on the Burgman, telling me what the temperature is, or, that I'm riding economically, or the selection of gears that made no difference at all to the performance. I also found the seat little too high for me. So i stuck with the old, outdated Silverwing. I just changed the oil and Filter as i just topped 600mls, 15 days after buying it, so far it has not caused me any problems nor do I expect it to. See you on the road sometime, maybe.
Oh, Smeghead I put the Givi-Airflow I had on my 07 Silverwing on my new bike no problem.

Thanks chaps I'll know on Sunday if the stock screen is OK as it's a 50 odd mile ride home. A1 and back roads so it'll get a work out.
Jokey banter apart, I like the idea of tried and tested technology, after all I'm not in the market for the lastest super-bike that weighs 200g less than last years version!

Agree with you Meldrew on oem screens on these maxis. I changed my screen on the Burg400 for a Givi Tour with built-in hand deflectors/guards.......changed the bike completely, for the better.
The oem screen is still sitting in the rafters of the garage to this day..........on top of my unused and now rusty ironing board! (My Lovely Lady is still going on about a new iron and board; she knows where the board is!)

Re: Question for Silverwing/Givi AF214 owners
My experience with scooters is....just one, I put a laminar lip on it as stock screen was noisy and buffeted my swede. Are mirror extenders a good idea, I needed those on the Majesty but can't fit them on the Honda as one side has an opposite thread.
