Transmission Rattle.

Post by Mk1Burgman »

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, I have a 1999 Suzuki Burgman 400, great ride, but can any help with a couple of drivetrain issues, Firstly the variators rollers have been changed by the previous owner to give the scoot faster acceleration and better mpg on motorways, but the downside to this is that it engages too soon on hills and causes the engine to struggle on hills and the whole scoot rattles and shudders and feels like it's trying to pull in "top gear" so do I need to get heavier or lighter rollers to give me more revs for town use and hills?
Also, is it normal to get clutch chatter/knock under load?

Sounds like they have gone very light. I would get a stock set so you know what it should feel like. Rollers when they are worn will rattle so it likely coming from them. A hard knock can be the clutch grabbing or releasing quickly because the spin up is faster.

Thanks "funkycowie" I'll try a set of new stock rollers and see how I get on.

Hi i'm using Dr pulley sliders (2613w- 18g it says on the box they came in ) on my 98 burgmanan400x along with a malossi belt and its working really well if that's any help. It pulls from a standing start very well with hardly any lag/step in take off and gives liner pull all the way to top speed (about 90 indicated but I do have a tall screen and top box) .
Redbull may give you wings but Bovril gives me horns!
