It's taken a lot of persistence on my part but I've finally been given a settlement figure the TMax I had stolen last November.

I nearly dropped the phone when they told me that the TMax was valued at more than I paid for it, which is nice. In fact, the difference just about takes care of the insurance excess.

A deposit has now been put down on a replacement TMax...

Happy days. I'm now going to go tracker shopping, oh and a new outdoor cover, solar charger and f**k off big lock.

Well done! I guess with new Tmax prices rising, this is dragging up S/H Tmax prices - which have been rising rather than falling for the last couple of years at least! We do live in an odd world these days!!

When i got my Tmax stolen,the tracker did its job,the scoot was found within the hour,when i got it back,once the electric steering lock was fixed,which was an eye watering amount,i invested in a 22mm Almax lock and chain,obscenely heavy,watched youtube vids about it ect,i feel sure the scumbags returned to remove the scoot again,but realised the lock and chain were to much of a challenge,when the scoot was stolen i had it secured with a 12mm oxford chain,their cordless angle grinder pi33ed through that….

Has anyone any experience of Liteloks?? I've toyed with getting one, but they are a bit pricy, and security doesn't seem so much of problem up here as in the London warzone. I don't like the conventional chain, as they are awkward and get filthy in winter when you push them through the wheel, and the filth gets transferred to your hands.

As an aside: I use cables rather than chains when I'm out on the scooters, more as a deterrent to opportunist thieves and joy-riders than determined bike-thieves.
On Sunday evening, the local gang of feral children in the town attacked the church and the priest, local shops and so on and my electric scooter. It was dark so they didn't notice the cable between barred gate and scooter and tried to wheel it away. all they succeeded in doing was getting it off the stand and allowing it to fall against the wall. The topbox is grazed where it came to rest but I might have done that myself in a careless moment.
The real downer was that they broke off the number plate and made off with it.
The cable did all I expect of it.
I bought a new plate on Monday; it's the aggravation that's annoying.
I do carry my walking-stick and will have no hesitation in defending myself; one man against a gang.

I got more for both TMaxes I lost in accidents, one was £800 the other was £1000 over what I paid for them second hand, because I gave them listings from dealers of similar age/condition ones that were valued at higher

Mike…..might be worth mentioning the fact the number plate was stolen to the authorities in case they copy it,put it on another vehicle,possible fines ect,

It shook me up more than I'd have thought; sad but true.
The Police were called and arrived very quickly. They managed to apprehend (correct expression!) one of the little scrotes; he is well-known to them - broken home, behaves properly when staying with Dad and grandparents but goes on the rampage when with his Mother who, one gathers, doesn't give a toss.
PSOs arrived, too, and took my details. One I had met before at some point. The other siad she'd find places where I could get a new plate and she phoned later with the information and to make sure I was okay.
As it was, my visit to Halfords was a waste of time and I got quite cross when informed they don't do m/c plates. I 'suggested' they should change what is said in their website and swep out!
I guessed the other places would be just cars, too, so went to my motorcycle man who was very smpathetic and pointed me in the direction of a shop which did the whole range of plates, both legal and questionable - for 'decoration'!
Nice people in the shop; new plate £10, bolts thrown in. I spent time fitting it as there was no rush and I think it's in the middle!
The locals are fed up with these scrotes but there's nothing they can do although several were out and about as soon as they knew what was afoot.
They know the scooter, too, and are aware of it as they pass by.
Seaham is still a nice place to live in spite of everything.
